BodyTite® Recovery: Should I Wear a Compression Garment?

Age or lifestyle changes can cause pockets of exercise-resistant fat to develop. Safe, effective, minimally invasive BodyTite® body sculpting procedures can help reduce the appearance of fat without surgery. But is wearing a compression garment required after the procedure?

Beverly Hills body sculpting provider Dr. Gabrielle B. Davis is here to guide you through your BodyTite® journey.

What is BodyTite®?

BodyTite® device uses radio frequency-assisted lipolysis (RFAL) to liquify fat for easier removal while also tightening the skin. During treatment, thermal energy is applied both beneath and above the skin without harming the surrounding tissues.

Even though BodyTite® is a minimally invasive procedure, experts recommend that patients wear a compression garment on the treated areas to ensure smooth healing, optimal results, and aid the body in adjusting to its new shape.

Common treatment areas include:

  • Stomach
  • Arms
  • Thighs
  • Chest
  • Knees

Why Do I Need a Compression Garment?

Compression garments, when worn correctly, help to increase blood circulation to help speed healing and reduce swelling. Patients should also wear compression garments to stabilize and protect the surgical site. Patients who wear their compression garments as recommended typically experience a lower risk of post-procedural complications and are generally happier with their results.

After your BodyTite® procedure, Dr. Davis will guide you in determining how long you should wear your compression garment. Wearing a compression garment following your Beverly Hills BodyTite® liposuction procedure helps to:

  • Support contour and enhance overall results
  • Reduce swelling and bruising
  • Decrease risk of infection
  • Promote faster recovery
  • Ease pain and discomfort
  • Protect the wound and provide stability
  • Encourage even healing, including tightening loose skin

How Long Should I Wear a Compression Garment?

Following your BodyTite® procedure, expect to be swollen and sore. Your compression garment will reduce swelling, allow your body to heal properly, and help your body to retain its new contour.

You should wear your compression garments for 48 hours prior to removing them for showering. After your BodyTite® procedure, you should wear your compression garment full time for 2 weeks, or as recommended by Dr. Davis.

Choosing Your Compression Garment

Not all compression garments are the same; choosing one that fits well is important. Improperly fitting post-surgical garments can, in fact, impede the healing process. Compression garments should be comfortable, not too tight or too loose, and easy to put on and take off to ensure comfort and efficiency.

Selecting quality garments that don’t cause pain or itching is important. It’s important to create even compression over the entire treatment area to help reduce bruising and swelling and enable circulation. The garment should stay in place on its own and not fold or form rolls, which can irritate the skin.
