Tummy Tuck in Beverly Hills with Dr. Gabrielle B. Davis

The keys to maintaining a slender figure have always been a healthy diet and exercise. However, not all parts of the body respond well to changes in these aspects and can create problem areas. The abdomen is no exception. Stubborn fat pockets and stretched abdominal muscles can create unsightly bulges that do not go away with sit-ups or healthy eating.

Tummy tucks aim to restore a slimmer waistline profile and a flatter, firmer abdominal contour in proportion to your body and weight. For many patients, a sleeker abdominal profile means a more youthful appearance and increased self-confidence. Through her expertise, passion, and knowledge, Dr. Gabrielle B. Davis is a Beverly Hills tummy tuck doctor working to rejuvenate and redefine aging gracefully.

It’s easier than ever to reclaim your waistline with a tummy tuck in Los Angeles. Contact Gabrielle B. Davis, MD Plastic Surgery at (310) 614-5898 or complete our online form to schedule your consultation today!

What Is A Tummy Tuck?

A tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, is a rejuvenation procedure of the abdomen. Over time, the muscles in the abdominal wall can separate from the midline creating a bulge. This occurrence is called rectus diastasis and can be particularly problematic after childbirth. Abdominoplasty is designed to eliminate excess skin, fatty tissue, and to bring the muscles back to their native position to create a flatter, leaner, more youthful waistline.

Dr. Davis offers the traditional full tummy tuck procedure and the mini tummy tuck procedure. A mini tummy tuck targets the lower abdomen only, usually between the belly button and pubic area. Mini tummy tucks are less invasive as they have a shorter incision.

Typically, most patients who are considering a Beverly Hills tummy tuck or mini tummy tuck are looking to improve the appearance of their abdomen from issues caused by:

  • Aging
  • Heredity
  • Pregnancy
  • Prior surgeries
  • Significant weight fluctuations

While tummy tucks and mini tummy tucks are not weight-loss procedures, they are the perfect complement to a healthy diet and exercise routine. The operations are effective for people close to their stable, target weight who may still have extra skin or fat in the abdomen that hasn’t resolved with diet and exercise.

What Can I Expect During a Los Angeles Tummy Tuck Procedure?

Dr. Davis is dedicated to her patients’ results, and her expertise allows her to customize procedures to address each patient’s tummy tuck needs. While each patient’s journey will have varying details, there are some general steps you can expect during the procedure:

Check-in and Anesthesia

You will be greeted by the peri-operative team at the clinic and check-in. Dr. Davis will evaluate you, perform her surgical markings, and ensure you are relaxed and comfortable before entering the operating room. Once you are safely sedated with general anesthesia, Dr. Davis will begin your tummy tuck procedure as determined during your consultation.

Tummy Tuck Procedure

According to your procedural plan, Dr. Davis will begin with liposuction to contour the waistline. Then unwanted skin and abdominal tissue are removed from the area. The duration of the procedure is approximately 3-4 hours.

Tummy Tuck Aftercare

An abdominal binder or compression garment is worn for 6 weeks following surgery to contour the abdomen and minimize swelling. Avoid strenuous exercises for 4-6 weeks following surgery.

How Soon Will I See My Beverly Hills Tummy Tuck Results?

The recovery time for a full tummy tuck is approximately 4-6 weeks. As a mini tummy tuck is less invasive, the recovery time is between 2-4 weeks. You will go home on the same day of the procedure; however, you will need assistance completing everyday tasks for a few weeks, especially if you have young children.

Most patients will notice immediate improvements to the appearance of their stomach and shape following a tummy tuck. However, you may experience swelling that temporarily obscures your true results. Over the few weeks following surgery, your body will heal, and swelling will subside, showing you improved results and new contours.

As with any surgical procedure, it is important to follow Dr. Davis’s instructions regarding physical activities to ensure optimal results from your abdominoplasty in Beverly Hills.

You can experience long-lasting results from your Beverly Hills tummy tuck procedure by maintaining your healthy lifestyle and weight.

Beverly Hills and Los Angeles Tummy Tuck FAQs

Due to the unique nature of tummy tuck, the cost is determined by your individual needs. Dr. Davis will provide an estimate for a more accurate tummy tuck cost in Beverly Hills during your consultation.

During your tummy tuck, you will be given anesthetics, so you should not feel discomfort. You will be prescribed pain medication to take following your procedure. Be sure to address your pain concerns with Dr. Davis during your consultation.

During your consultation, Dr. Davis will explain the different procedures and help you determine which surgery will be most effective.

It is always best to do as much research as possible before your consultation.  This will guide you in the right questions to ask during your consultation.

Dr. Davis does not recommend using a tummy tuck as a weight loss procedure.  To maintain the longevity of your results, it will require you to stay at a stable weight after the procedure.

Many of Dr. Davis’s patients decide to choose a “Mommy Makeover,” a term that defines breast and body rejuvenation after childbirth. In a “Mommy Makeover,” patients often decide to combine liposuction, abdominoplasty, and breast surgery. However, each patient is different and may choose other procedures as well, such as labiaplasty, arm lift, or thigh lift etc.

Dr. Davis will use your own belly button, however it will be moved to a better location on your abdomen once the excess skin has been removed.

Your native belly button is brought through the skin, in a better position, once your excess skin has been removed.

Most patients are able to return to work 2 weeks after surgery.  They can resume standard exercise 4 weeks after surgery with minimal core work and they can resume full core exercises at 3 months post-op.

You can get pregnant after having a tummy tuck.  However to maintain the longevity of your results, it is best to perform a tummy tuck when you have completed having children.

It is recommended to refrain from heavy lifting for at least 4 weeks after a tummy tuck.  Therefore we will advise you not to lift more than 5-10lbs during this time.

Swelling is common after a tummy tuck and could take a full year to completely resolve.  A post-operative compression garment will help to minimize swelling as well as contour the abdomen.

The majority of the sutures placed during the tummy tuck will be absorbable, however you have some sutures in the belly button region that will require removal after surgery.

In the majority of cases, 2 drains will be placed at the time of surgery.  These drains are typically removed within 1 week of surgery.

Dr. Davis always performs a muscle plication during the tummy tuck surgery to repair the muscles.
