Breast Augmentation Q & A

What is breast augmentation?

Breast augmentation is a procedure performed at the office of Gabrielle B. Davis, MD Plastic Surgery to increase the size of your breasts. The surgery also corrects the “deflated” appearance that often happens after pregnancy, breastfeeding, or weight loss.

Breast augmentation gives you a natural-looking, more rounded breast shape while improving the symmetry of your breasts. Many patients experience a huge confidence boost after breast augmentation.

What are my options for breast augmentation?

Dr. Davis enlarges the size of your breasts by using either saline or silicone gel implants. Saline implants are filled with sterile saltwater. If your implant ever leaks, your body absorbs and naturally gets rid of the saltwater.

This isn't the case with silicone implants. However, silicone implants tend to look and feel more natural than saline implants. If you choose these implants, Dr. Davis may wish to monitor you over the years to ensure your implants remain intact.

Both saline and silicone implants come in a vast range of sizes and consistencies to fit all body types. During your initial consultation, Dr. Davis helps you determine the most suitable implant based on your anatomy and overall aesthetic preferences.

What happens during breast augmentation surgery?

Dr. Davis performs your procedure in the operating room while you're under general anesthesia. She first makes small incisions in either your lower breast crease, along your nipple, or near your armpit.

Dr. Davis inserts the implant in the proper position, using a no-touch technique for sterility. Doing so prevents bacteria from getting into your surgical opening. She then closes your incisions. Your breast augmentation is finished in two hours.

What happens after breast augmentation surgery?

Dr. Davis wraps your breast with a soft wrap immediately after surgery to promote your recovery. You wear the wrap until day three, then switch to a sports bra, which you may wear for 3-4 weeks.

If you’ve been thinking about enhancing the size of your breasts, Dr. Davis provides breast augmentation surgery customized to your body type and cosmetic goals. Call the office of Gabrielle B. Davis, MD Plastic Surgery to set up a consultation or book your visit online today.
