What is a Thigh Lift?
A thigh lift procedure eliminates unwanted skin and adiposity of the upper leg or thigh area. As one ages tissue becomes lax, leading to “sagging” particularly in the inner thigh area. In this procedure the excess skin is excised and liposuction is also utilized to contour the area. The incision can be placed in the inner portion of the leg or well hidden in the groin crease depending on the degree of skin laxity.
What to Expect:
The procedure is performed in the operating room under general anesthesia. Unwanted skin and fat are removed from the upper thighs. The duration of the procedure is 2 hours.
The thighs are wrapped initially with soft wraps for gentle compression. The soft wraps are transitioned to a compression garment 1 week after surgery. The garment is worn for several weeks to contour the thighs and minimize swelling. Heavy lifting and strenuous exercise should be avoided 4-6 weeks after surgery.
