What is Liposuction?
Liposuction is a technique to contour the body by the removal of undesirable adipose tissue. Fluid is first infiltrated into the areas of desired treatment to promote vasoconstriction and prevent blood loss. Small incisions are made to insert the liposuction cannula. Typically treatment areas include the arms, abdomen, flank, and inner thighs.
What to Expect:
The procedure can be performed under conscious sedation. A solution is infiltrated into the desired area containing an anesthetic and vasoconstrictor, to minimize pain and blood loss. A liposuction cannula is inserted to remove unwanted fat.
A compression garment is worn for 4-6 weeks to contour the treated areas and minimize swelling. Swelling can take several months to resolve. Strenuous exercises should be avoided for 4-6 weeks.
